John left behind two legacies. The first was love he had for his daughter Alex, grandson Ashton, his Mum and Dad and his brother and sister as well as a massive amount of friends. His other great love was music.This was often the cause of much heated debate with both friends and family alike as his music tastes were so diverse, including Talking Heads, The Beatles and Sly & The Family Stone to name just a few! I think one of his many friends Ruby can better sum up what music was for my lovely kind brother who left this world far too soon: "Music was so important to John. He loved to share his music and was never happier than when he could introduce someone to a new song, whether as a DJ or sitting in his car choosing something from his well-stocked iPod. "He had incredibly broad tastes, from The Beatles to The Bees, taking in Jimi Hendrix, Nick Drake, The Who and Bobby Darin along the way and his knowledge of early hip-hop was second-to-none. (He wasn’t too keen on Big Band music though!) "He took so much joy from music and I can think of no better way to remember him than helping young people make their own musical discoveries in his name." I believe that encouraging the young to appreciate music and helping them through music would give John a great big smile whilst looking down at us all.
